Ortho Design - Spinal Orthotics

Spinal Orthotics

Ortho Design’s experienced Orthotists and full-service lab design, manufacture, and fit spinal orthoses for a wide range of conditions. We specialize in creating custom and prefabricated spinal orthotics to treat acute and chronic spinal instabilities. We offer fitting services for spinal braces in cases of acute trauma, such as compression fractures. For patients with degenerating spines due to arthritis or other orthopedic or neurological challenges, we create unique spinal solutions tailored to their specific needs. Ortho Design will come to patients in the hospital to fit spinal braces when needed.

Our experienced team of certified orthotists has the expertise to manage scoliosis resulting from a variety of conditions, including neurological, traumatic, arthritic, or idiopathic causes. Our Orthotist, previously a member of the British Columbia Children’s and Women’s Hospital Scoliosis Clinic, can provide custom bracing solutions to manage spinal curves as directed by a physician. Thoracolumbosacral Orthosis - TLSO

A thoracolumbosacral orthosis (TLSO) is a medical device that supports and treats spine conditions. It is typically made of hard plastic and is designed to fit around the torso, from the hips to the armpits, surrounding the thoracic, lumbar, and sacral spine. This type of orthosis may be used to treat conditions that affect the spine, such as scoliosis, hyperkyphosis, degenerative disc disease, osteoarthritis, and compression fractures. TLSOs can increase intra-abdominal pressure to stabilize the spinal column, reducing pain and risk of further damage. TLSOs can be an effective treatment option for those with spinal conditions, helping to improve posture, reduce pain, and prevent further damage to the spine.

TLSOs Provide:

  • spinal support
  • corrected posture and positioning
  • reduced pain and discomfort
  • protection and healing from injury
